Student Entrepreneur Winners of 2020 New York Business Plan Competition Announced HIGHLAND, NY - The winners of the 11th annual New York Business Plan Competition (NYBPC) have been announced today. The New York Business Plan Competition (NYBPC) is New York’s intercollegiate business competition, and the program has been conducted online for the first time. This year, the 2020 Grand Prize winner will receive $10,000 and first place winners will receive cash prizes and ongoing mentorship to advance their student-led ventures. Thanks to the support of our event partners and sponsors, the program was able to continue through the spring.” This year, nearly 1,000 people participated, including students and faculty from 50 colleges and universities all over New York, and business professionals as mentors and judges from New York and beyond. The program is administered through the Capital Foundation of New York, the educational arm of the Upstate Capital Association of New York. The statewide NYBPC steering committee and regional organizers in every region all volunteer their time to coordinate and execute the program. Funding for administration and prize money is provided by sponsors and philanthropists who support the innovation economy, including NYSERDA, NY Ventures, NYSTAR, and several successful entrepreneurs. Since 2010, more than 5,000 students from public and private New York community colleges, 4-year schools, and universities have pitched their ideas and ventures at the NYBPC. More than $1M in prize money has been awarded to over 150 student-led ventures, and many successful companies have been launched through this platform, including SparkCharge, Farther Farms, Purple Sun, Buffalo Automation Group, Vital Vio, and many more.
