Food & Agtech participants - Where are they now?

Check out what these past NYBPC participants have been up to since the competition!

Food and AgTech companies are big businesses in Upstate New York. Student competitors of the NYBPC have proven to be strong in the industry. Check out what the participating teams have accomplished since their competition year! 

  • F.E.I. Technology LLC is an online food platform that seeks to blend food and entertainment. After competing in 2019, they have launched their website and delivery service for those in the Syracuse area with a primary focus on Asian Cuisine.

  • NDRIANA AGRO, who competed in 2019, is a for-profit start-up farming business based in Madagascar. Their goals are to purchase highly fertile land in economically depressed areas of Madagascar for domestic and export crop production. They have purchased 12.5 acres of land, as well as supplies.

  • Ponic Hops, who competed in 2019,  hopes to support New York State’s craft brewery industry by extending the hops growing season and increasing the unique hop varieties that can be cultivated in the state via an indoor hybrid-ponic growing system. The team has been collaborating with local farmers in the Finger Lakes area.  

  • Suna Breakfast is healthy on the go breakfast delivery service for students that is both inexpensive and fast. After competing in 2019, they were able to raise enough capital to launch their delivery service on several college campuses in Ithaca. They are currently working on expanding their reach to other colleges in the area. 

  • Antithesis (Foods) seeks to create a healthier and better-tasting snack through their pilot product, Garbanzos. After competing in 2018, they have recently received an SBRI Phase I grant from the National Science Foundation and are seeking customers. 

  • LunchBux is an online food service that works with local NYC restaurants. After competing in 2017, they have their platform up and running for those in the NYC area.

  • Infiniti Greens’ mission is to provide locally grown microgreens at an affordable rate to as many people as possible. After competing in 2018, they are currently partnered with the Koffman Southern Tier Incubator while making sales and seeking customers.

  • Farther Farms (competed as Natural Cuts) won first place in the Advanced Technology track in 2017. Since their win, Farther Farms has raised $600k from angel and seed investors, including Launch NY, while creating a technological platform to transform food and food safety.

  • ColdSpace is a temporary food storage company that seeks to increase the amount of cold storage available to students. They are currently based in Buffalo and are seeking customers, after competing in 2017.

Since 2010, over 2,800 student teams from public and private New York colleges, community colleges, and universities have pitched their ideas and ventures at the NYBPC. Congratulations to all the past NYBPC winners, and good luck to the upcoming students who are hoping to compete at this year’s final.
