WHERE ARE THEY NOW? 

Check out what these past NYBPC participants have been up to since the competition!

The NYBPC has a track focused on Energy & Environment business plans - and our participating students never fail to impress when it comes to CleanTech. Since 2010, over 2,800 student teams from public and private New York colleges, community colleges, and universities have pitched their ideas and ventures at the NYBPC. Check out what the participating teams have accomplished since their competition year! 

  • SolarClear is a self-cleaning technology that removes dust from solar panels and regains the lost power. After competing in 2019, they are currently partnered with  PowerBridgeNY. http://powerbridgeny.com/awardees/54/

  • PAANI, who competed in 2019, seeks to refine traditional cultural methods of water filtration in low-income and rural parts of India through the design of a "smart" Sari fabric. They have competed in several other competitions and have a working prototype. https://www.paanisolutions.com/

  • Scrap-It! Scrap-it's goal is to create a zero-waste community through the prevention of reusable, repurposable and recyclable items ending up in landfills, by making it easier for people to properly dispose of scrap items through their app. After competing in the NYBPC in 2019, they went on to several other competitions. Currently, their business up and going, has partnered with NYSERDA. https://www.scrapitjunkremoval.com/

  • Just Plastic competed in 2019. Their goal is to transform plastic into currency and thereby, empowering impoverished communities and people and alleviating poverty.

  • Zalara an environmental sustainability company, competed in 2019. Now they seek to provide functional Green Walls (vertical gardens) for pretreating high-nutrient wastewater produced by the food industry to minimize its potentially destructive environmental impact.

  • WeatherOptics is a meteorological data analytics and private sector forecasting company that takes raw weather data and translates it into valuable insight for businesses across the United States. After competing in 2018, they are currently in business and are seeking customers. https://client.weatheroptics.net/

  • Verdimine is a specialty green chemical company focused on the sustainable production of aryl aldimines. After competing in the 2017 NYBPC, they were one of six teams chosen to move on to round 2 of the 2018 Nexus Program. https://www.verdimine.com/

  • Radiator Labs, who completed prior to 2016, seeks to decrease overheating in steam-heated buildings. They have launched their business and are seeking customers. https://www.radiatorlabs.com/

  • AmStar Technologies uses technology to monitor track and eliminate air and waterborne bacteria in urban areas. They launched their pilot product, Nebula and are seeking clients. https://www.amstartechnology.com/
