WHERE ARE THEY NOW?

Check out what these Military and First Responder NYBPC alum have been up to since their competition year!

  • Going the Extra Mile Foundation seeks to improve the lives of veterans through an increased opportunity through accessibility to travel that may not be available to those in a financial and physical crisis. After competing in 2018, they have completed their website and are seeking support for their mission. https://www.extramilefoundation.org/

  • EAGLE-I, an autonomous robot designed to help emergency responders by using biotechnology sensors and artificial intelligence to find survivors and save lives. After competing in 2019, the team is currently working in different volunteer fields and is creating a prototype.

  • VetsTogether, who competed in 2019, is an app that seeks to facilitate an online community of social support for veterans to help prevent suicide and provide resources for those suffering from PTSD.

  • Vara Safety, (which competed as Dual:Lock in 2016) is a  company that creates smart holsters to improve in-home safety for firearm owners. After competing they went on to win $50,000 from the FuzeHub manufacturing grant courtesy of the  Jeff Lawrence Innovation Fund. On Aug. 31, 2019, Vara Safety began shipping the Reach units to more than 400 pre-order customers. https://varasafety.com/

  • Workers First (who competed in 2019 and 2018) is systematically seeking new markets and applications by engineering for fabrics in the field of workers’ safety, mainly targeting hydrofluoric acid interactions. They are currently working on a prototype.

  • Iconoclasm, who competed in 2019 aims to change the cybersecurity and threat intelligence space by equipping tier-three operators, analysts, and researchers with tools to collaborate and to protect us from the threats of the world with increased efficiency and ease of use. They are currently seeking clients. https://www.iconoclasm.re/
